A great beach dining experience

My wife went to Maui for our honeymoon and had our first meal on Maui at Hula Grill. The total experience was awesome. The barefoot bar where you can feel the sand beneath your feet and the view of the ocean is so relaxing despite being in the heart of the Kaanapli Beach hotel strip.

We've made two return trips to Maui since that honeymoon trip and Hula Grill is always our first stop. Everything is fresh and delicious and they attract the best servers.

• Cons: Parking garage is a long walk through the mall

great island feel

We went there twice, once just for drinks and another for a meal. The music that was playing when we were there for dinner was great....especially since we were late enough to avoid the bulk of the crowds. The barefoot bar has a much younger feel and the formal dining area gives you the more traditional restaurant service. We ate at the barefoot bar and got a pleasant experience with good music, decent food, great ambiance, and good drinks. Not a bad place to go, but you may want to avoid it when it is just slammed and too busy.

Worst restaurant experience ever!!!

I went there with two friends and we decided to check out the barefoot bar area(where you put your feet in the sand). It was a little creepy putting your feet in the sand when youre wondering how many people before you have. Anyways, we were near a sort of stage are and this guy starts playing his guitar and singing. Although his music was good, it was WAY too loud. it was horrible. Then our food came. Although my sandwich was delicious, I could not enjoy it because of the many flies swarming around. Then my friend found a small insect in her salad! Although this is slightly understandable because the salad comes from organic farms, it was just the straw that broke the camels back. so we got our food in boxes and left. This restaurant left me extremely upset and angry. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant ever.
