Guests like the low-key atmosphere and open design of this hotel. It is located in northwest Maui, ten miles from the town of Lahaina, and was the first to be built on Kapalua Bay.

The Details
The oversized guest rooms are elegant, but not overdone. They are decorated in natural colors with granite accents and have parlors and private lanais. If you don't like the more commercial aspects of the Hawaiian Islands, you'll probably be comfortable here. The resort is well-known for its golf, with three championship courses designed by Ben Crenshaw and Arnold Palmer. These courses offer commanding ocean views and glimpses of neighboring Molokai and Lanai. They are the venue for the Mercedes Championships, the first stop in the annual PGA tour. Other outdoor activities include tennis courts, which are the site of three major tennis championships each year. The protected white-sand beach is often rated among the best in America. It lies adjacent to a marine sanctuary, great for snorkeling. You can also get certified to scuba dive through the hotel.
