Old-fashioned luxury in an upcountry Lanai setting.. The Scene
This country property is unique among Hawaii's top-of-the-line hotels. Most are located on the shoreline, but this one sits on Lanai's central highlands, a cool 1,600 feet above sea level. It takes its name from the nearby farming region that lies above quaint Lanai City, Lanai's only town.

The Details
Deluxe rooms are surrounded by groves of Norfolk pine, banyan, eucalyptus and jacarandas. Modernized room decor recalls an early Hawaiian plantation with carved four-poster beds, quilted pillows and colorful paintings by local artists. The feeling here is that of a grand estate, with the use of heavy timbers, high-beamed ceilings and natural stone fireplaces. A stately Great Hall is filled with Pacific art and artifacts; it leads to a spectacular porch, which offers a perfect setting for afternoon tea. A library, music room and trophy room further the feeling that you are in a grand house rather than a hotel. Activities are what any visitor to a country manor would expect--shooting, croquet, horseback riding, swimming, tennis and garden walks. There is also an 18-hole executive putting green. Area hiking is superb.
